Safety Operations Specialist

This role will be based out of the Lexington, KY office:

Key Responsibilities:
- Review all contractors' pre-qualification documentation/information (OSHA 300 logs, EMR, Citations, Fatalities, Safety Manual, etc.) prior to a contract being executed.
- Communicate directly with contractors to request additional information or explanations on required information.
- Approve contractors that meet expectations and add additional requirements due to lagging indicators submitted during the pre-qual process.
- Review and approve all incidents completed in HammerTech.
- Review and edit incident reports for errors or missing information.
- Contact incident report composers to ensure accurate information has been put into the report.
- Keep up-to-date safety statistics for Gray Construction (RIR, LTIR, SIF Rate, etc.).
- Provide accurate updates for Combined Staff Meetings, Board Meetings, 2:15pm Safety calls, etc.
- Participate in the interviewing process of prospective team members.
- Take notes and provide hiring recommendations to the Director, Safety.
- Assist with staffing projects in execution and future planning of projects in the bid phase.
- Review and update the safety manual with changes and additions submitted by the safety team.
- Assist in planning and booking safety events/outings for the safety team and occasionally sub-contractors.
- Make decisions for events to ensure an adequate setting (space, equipment, etc.) for the scheduled event/outing.
- Work with safety team members to locate and coordinate safety training and professional development classes to coincide with their annual review and goals set with their managers.
Requirements:
The new team member is required to have a bachelor's degree in a safety-related field with five years of experience in a safety position in the construction industry or 4 years of administrative experience with a construction company.
The new team member should be an energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment, as well as a passion for collaboration and professional development.
