School Operations Coordinator

Uncommon Schools North Star Academy is a nonprofit network of high-performing public charter schools dedicated to providing an outstanding education in historically under-resourced communities. With over 60% of our teachers and staff identifying as people of color, we strive to build schools that reflect our student population.
We manage 52 schools across five cities, serving 19,000 students. Our graduates persist in and graduate from college at five times the national rate. We achieve this by offering strong academic, co-curricular, and social-emotional learning that prepares students for success in college and beyond.
The Office Manager – Communications plays a crucial role on our School Operations Teams, ensuring that students, families, and staff have the information and resources they need to succeed.
Estimated Salary: $18.92-$20.47 per hour, based on relevant experience and qualifications.
School Overview
North Star Academy manages fourteen schools in Newark, NJ, serving students in grades K through 12. We believe in strong, authentic relationships between teachers and students, supported by effective school systems and an engaging instructional model. As a service-oriented team, we design, implement, and refine systems that anticipate the needs of the school community.
Job Description
The Office Manager – Communications coordinates day-to-day operations systems and routines, ensuring seamless school operations. Responsibilities include:
- Serving as the primary contact for all constituents.
- Enrollment and re-enrollment of new and current students.
- Daily student attendance and operational systems.
- Maintaining up-to-date student information and files.
- Planning and supporting logistics for school events and activities.
