About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative I to join our team at University Hospitals. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to our patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interviewing and Registration: Conduct face-to-face or telephone interviews with patients to gather medical, demographic, and insurance information, and register patients in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Data Entry and Validation: Enter and validate medical, demographic, insurance, financial, and business data to ensure accuracy and integrity of patient records.
  • Preparation of Patient Materials: Prepare standard patient materials, including forms, labels, brochures, and surveys, to ensure patients have the necessary information to access care.
  • Confidential Health Records: Maintain confidentiality of patient health records, process physician orders, and schedule patients in a timely manner.
  • Interpreter Services and Patient Education: Identify and communicate the need for interpreter services, provide patient education regarding third-party coverage and liabilities, and communicate possible payment options.
  • Financial Transactions: Collect, post, and balance co-pays, deductibles, and other patient payments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Productivity and Quality Standards: Maintain expertise in PAS legal and compliance requirements, incorporate principles into workflows, and ensure achievement of productivity and quality standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Function as an integrated team member, work collaboratively with other staff and providers to improve patient experience and department efficiency.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Equivalent/GED and Associate's Degree or progress towards degree (Preferred) and Medical Terminology (Preferred).
  • Work Experience: 1+ years experience in call center, patient registration, scheduling, office, banking, customer service, or related medical field using computers (Required).
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to use PCs, MS Office, and general office equipment; excellent keyboarding/data entry skills; detail-oriented and organized; notable client service, communication, and relationship building skills; ability to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
