Job Summary

The Fabrication Specialist is responsible for setting up, operating, and ensuring that machinery produces high-quality products, that machinery runs smoothly and at capacity, and that machinery is properly maintained. Working from specifications and drawings, the Fabrication Specialist uses a press brake to bend, shape, cut, and manipulate sheet metal and metal plates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operates press brake to manufacture components from sheet metal or metal plates.
  • Prepares, sets up, and adjusts press brake as required by product plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Verifies that sufficient raw materials are available and communicates with supervisor if problems arise.
  • Measures and aligns materials to be used.
  • Operates production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications. Assigned machines may include forming rolls, grinders, and similar equipment.
  • Produces the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances.
  • Measures finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with functional quality and cosmetic specifications.
  • Maintains logs and records of units produced, including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
  • Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years or related machine operating experience in a manufacturing facility or similar relevant experience.
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate or learn to operate press brake controls.
  • Familiarity with Amada press brake equipment and controls a plus.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints and routings.
  • Knowledge of proper use of measuring tools/gauges and cutting tools.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Must pass a post-employment offer drug screen and background check.
