Job Summary:

The Boston Public Schools is seeking a qualified Education Assistant to support teachers in providing a high-quality education program for students. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to education and a passion for working with young children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers with instructional activities and support students in their learning.
  • Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom setup and cleanup.
  • Manage individual and classroom behavior using prescribed approaches.
  • Supervise students on field trips and perform other related duties as requested.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Forty-eight (48) Credit Hours of College Coursework or an Associate's Degree, or a passing score on one of the two following Formalized Standardized Assessments: ParaPro Assessment () or WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants ().
  • Minimum of two years experience working with young children.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.
  • Certification as a teacher or license as a social worker.
  • Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali.
