Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled School Aide with a current CNA license to join our team. As a School Aide, you will work with students who require instructional and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follows through with IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, independent skills, and managing behavioral deficits and excesses.
  • Facilitates teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance.
  • Assists students in general education classes and communicates pertinent information to teachers.
  • Accompanies students during recess and lunch periods, as well as community experiences.
  • Strictly adheres to confidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents, and classroom activities.
  • Assists with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel such as PT, OT, and SLP.
  • Assists students in the development of independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • May be asked to assist in behavior management techniques at the direction of the teacher and/or other school professional.
  • Assists teacher with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
  • Assists with transfers and ambulation.
Requirements
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
