Job Overview

Position: Crane Operator

Location: Portage, IN

Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire

Compensation: Starting at $20.00/hour

Eligible for pay increases, promotions, and benefits (health/dental/vision, 401k with match, vacation/PTO, and more) upon permanent hire.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends and overtime may be required or optional.

Training Hours: 10 am – 6 pm

Shift Hours:

  • 2nd Shift: 2 pm - 10 pm
  • 3rd Shift: 10 pm - 6 am

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience operating remote overhead cranes (25+ tons).
  • Proficient in moving steel coils using a remote overhead crane.
  • Familiarity with general warehouse and operational safety protocols.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work overtime or 12-hour shifts as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate remote overhead cranes under general supervision.
  • Safely load and unload steel coils from trucks, railcars, and within the warehouse.
  • Assist with various warehouse duties, including packaging.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols for crane operation and coil handling.
  • Perform additional related tasks as required.
