Job Title: Rebar Ironworker Journeyman

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a skilled Rebar Ironworker Journeyman to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly experienced Rebar Ironworker Journeyman to work on our Rio Grande LNG project in Brownsville, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for reading and understanding blueprints, selecting and placing reinforcing steel, and ensuring that all materials are properly positioned for structural load.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and understand blueprints and elevations to select and place reinforcing steel
  • Aid in rigging operations, connections, and disconnections
  • Select rods, bundles, measure, cut to length, bend, and shape reinforcing bar to exacting specifications
  • Place rods in forms, spacing, and fastening them together using wire and pliers
  • Knowledge of weights of different bar sizes per foot and bar diameters
  • Position and secure steel bars in concrete forms and reinforce concrete
  • Cut bars to required lengths using hacksaws, band saws, or acetylene torches
  • Bend steel rods with hickey bars or rod-bending machines
  • May reinforce concrete with wire mesh
  • Ensure all reinforcing material is in its proper position for structural load
  • Load, transport, unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation
  • Clean and perform minor maintenance activities on tools and equipment
  • Restock supplies and materials as necessary
  • Must be able to safely traverse uneven terrain with/without tools and building materials
  • Must be able to climb vertical ladders and work above ground as necessary
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving safe dexterous use of hand tools
  • Safely operate power tools and equipment
  • Must be able to climb rebar cages and walls and work at height while hanging from rebar structures
  • Adhere to all safety procedures
Requirements:

Typically requires 48 months of industrial construction experience.
