Job Summary

DMC Harper University/Hutzel Women's Hospital is seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic radiological exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient identity and review medical records for appropriateness of exam or procedure.
  • Interview patients to obtain, verify, or update medical history and assess risk factors.
  • Explain procedures to patients, including side effects of pharmaceuticals, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up.
  • Set up equipment and acquire images as per script.
  • Review images, make initial observations, document exceptions, and communicate data to radiologists.
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies as appropriate.
  • Provide post-care instructions to patients.
  • Participate in process improvement activities, including quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis, and patient satisfaction.
  • Provide imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new employees.
  • Able to take call/standby as required by the department.
Requirements
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training required.
  • Strong analytical and clinical skills to determine the most age-appropriate method of providing radiographs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with patients and hospital personnel.
  • Technical knowledge to operate equipment, including specialized equipment and computers.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively in a complex environment.
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
