Job Title: Radiology Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Radiology Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Radiology Technologist will perform diagnostic radiological exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment. This includes verifying patient identity, reviewing medical records, and explaining procedures to patients. The successful candidate will also be responsible for setting up equipment, acquiring images, and reviewing results with radiologists.

Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient identity and review medical records for appropriateness of exam or procedure
  • Interview patients to obtain, verify, or update medical history and assess risk factors
  • Explain procedures to patients, including side effects of pharmaceuticals, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up
  • Set up equipment and acquire images as per script
  • Review images, make initial observations, document exceptions from established protocols, and communicate data to radiologists
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies as appropriate
  • Provide physician-prescribed post-care instructions to patients
  • Participate in process improvement activities within radiology practice, including quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis, and patient satisfaction
  • Provide imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new employees
  • Able to take call/standby as required by the department
Qualifications:
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R)
  • Required to have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation period
  • Skills required include analytical and clinical skills, interpersonal and communication skills, technical knowledge, ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, and physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients
