Job Overview

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc. (FTCH) is seeking a dedicated Electrical Engineer to join our Grand Rapids team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, access control, network, and instrumentation and control systems across various sectors such as industrial, municipal, healthcare, commercial, retail, and educational.

Key Responsibilities

This role encompasses the hands-on development of construction documentation, which includes calculations, drawings, and specifications. The Electrical Engineer will engage in field investigations, interact with clients, and provide construction administration services.

Physical Requirements

The position will involve standard office conditions with the need to utilize a computer and various technical equipment for communication and documentation. The candidate must be able to travel to project sites for meetings and evaluations, and possess the visual acuity necessary to perform the responsibilities of the role. Occasional light lifting, sitting, and walking may be required.

Educational Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or equivalent) is required.

Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with the Architectural/Engineering (A/E) consulting sector.
  • Experience in designing electrical systems for water and wastewater facilities.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or progress towards licensure.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, International Building Codes, and Energy Codes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Design Master Electrical, Microsoft Office, Easy Power arc flash hazard analysis software, and lighting design software.
