In collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), ELYON International is seeking to fill multiple Engineering Technician (Civil) roles in Tennessee. The selected candidates will play a crucial role within the NRCS Team, contributing to various programs, projects, and specialized tasks.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Engineering Technician (Civil) will be responsible for:
- Assisting agency personnel with project documentation and execution in both office and field settings. The role requires outdoor work and presence at various locations, including local field offices and area offices.
- Conducting inventory and assessment of potential project sites, leading or assisting in engineering surveys for design purposes, and supporting the development of engineering drawings and specifications.
- Evaluating construction materials to ensure compliance with specifications, which includes site visits to quarries and suppliers.
- Maintaining detailed construction project diaries and coordinating with Engineers and Geologists on project progress and potential issues.
- Tracking ongoing quantities for construction projects and assisting with payment processing activities.
- Engaging in training and certification for Engineering Job Approval Authority (EJAA) as permitted by NRCS policy.
- Utilizing AutoCAD and Civil 3D software to create and modify engineering drawings.
- Reviewing NRCS construction drawings and specifications for technical accuracy.
- Operating various surveying equipment and troubleshooting setup issues independently.
- Managing agency-specific data and systems, requiring some initial training.
- Communicating effectively with contractors, landowners, and regulatory personnel regarding project assignments.
- Adhering to OSHA regulations for construction projects and ensuring compliance among team members.
- Assisting in the preparation and distribution of reports related to inventory, inspections, and project assessments.
- Supporting maintenance and inspections of motor vehicles as necessary.
- Completing relevant training for other NRCS disciplines to enhance program efficiency.
Desired education and experience include:
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant job experience.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- A valid state-issued driving license.
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat DC and various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with office machinery and general office procedures.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage professionally in an office environment.
- Physical capability to perform duties in outdoor settings and various weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
