Job Summary and Purpose:
The Counselor AOD II - MC is responsible for providing alcohol and drug treatment services to clients and their families, engaging in treatment plan processes with therapists and case managers, and maintaining ongoing clinical documentation to support whole-person care for clients. This position reports to the Program Manager and the Clinical Director, who will supervise duties and job performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- As part of a multi-disciplinary Case Management team, performs primary alcohol and drug counseling functions, including screening, assessment, and intake.
- Provides one-on-one mentoring and support to clients, teaching them independent living and problem-solving skills, and exposing them to healthy lifestyle activities designed to alter former lifestyles, attitudes, images, and negative behavioral patterns.
- Acts as an advocate for clients before outside social service and legal organizations.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment, and education verifications.
Education:
- Alcohol and Drug Counseling Certification by an approved accrediting organization (CCAPP, CADTP, or CADEE).
Experience:
- A minimum of three years' experience in the provision of SUD treatment services working with the target population.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong crisis management skills.
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
- Demonstrated ability with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
