About the Role

Farnsworth Group, a leading engineering, architecture, and surveying firm, is seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer to join our team. As a senior leader, you will play a critical role in driving business growth and excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Financial Leadership: Partner with the CEO and other senior leaders to provide financial guidance and recommendations on operational and strategic issues.
  2. Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and promote a framework to drive financial accountability across the organization, providing timely and meaningful analyses and reporting to operational leaders.
  3. Taxation and Compliance: Administer taxation planning and compliance, including federal, state/local, and sales and use taxes.
  4. Risk Management: Oversee insurance and other elements of risk management to ensure the company's financial stability.
  5. Financial Policy and Procedure Development: Develop and monitor policies and procedures within General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow, reduce operating costs, and increase revenues.
  6. Contract Negotiations: Advise on contract negotiations from a financial impact perspective.
  7. External Relationships: Maintain external relationships with banks, auditors, and third-party vendors.
  8. Mergers and Acquisitions: Oversee potential acquisitions and collaborations with external organizations.
Requirements
  1. Minimum 15 Years of Financial Experience: With at least 5 years of experience as CFO or equivalent in a professional services or construction organization, with a preference for experience in an engineering consulting business.
  2. Education: Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Master's Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or MBA, preferred.
  3. Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), preferred.
  4. Project-Based Accounting: Demonstrated knowledge of project-based accounting concepts.
  5. Mergers and Acquisitions: Prior experience evaluating and performing due diligence of mergers and acquisitions.
  6. Multi-State Operations: Experience with multi-state operations in S-Corp structure.
  7. Excel Modeling: Background in Excel modeling.
  8. Deltek Vision: Experience with Deltek Vision, a plus.
  9. Federal Acquisition Regulations: Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations, a plus.
