Auto Damage Appraiser Job Description

At Chubb, we're seeking a skilled Auto Damage Appraiser to join our team. As a key member of our claims team, you'll play a critical role in restoring damaged vehicles to their pre-damage condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare itemized appraisals indicating costs of parts, materials, and labor necessary to restore damaged vehicles.
  • Provide technical advice on vehicle repair, parts costs, and garage expertise.
  • Complete auto repair facility and independent re-inspections, supplements as warranted.
  • Resolve disagreements and negotiate with auto repair facilities, Independent Adjusters, claimants, and policyholders.
  • Evaluate claims for potential fraud or subrogation.
  • May be called upon for catastrophe duty.
Requirements:
  • Insurance industry or related auto estimating experience.
  • Strong knowledge of current OEM collision repair procedures and determining repair costs.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle damage and loss evaluation.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle estimating databases.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of insurance claims or related field experience.
