Boston Public Schools is in search of a dedicated ESL and Special Education Instructor with a SEI endorsement, who is exceptionally qualified and well-versed in their field, to become a part of our educational community. Reporting Structure: Reports to the Principal/Head of School.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute district educational objectives and standards, aligning with state frameworks, while being adept at identifying pathways for student portfolio enhancement.
  • Deliver targeted small-group instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive challenges, ensuring comprehension and advancement in the general curriculum.
  • Develop and implement goals and objectives in accordance with student Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), providing regular and timely updates on student progress.
  • Offer necessary accommodations for student learning and assessments as required. If necessary, design and implement curriculum, and gather and evaluate student work in preparation for alternative assessments to ensure progress.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the school to support modifications based on student needs.
  • Assist in the transition to adult living services as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree.
  • Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in the relevant content area and Moderate Disabilities for the appropriate grade level.
  • Have either an ESL License at the appropriate level or a SEI Endorsement.
  • Comply with all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
  • Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching as established by Boston Public Schools.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in urban educational settings.
  • Degree in Special Education.
  • BPS values linguistic diversity and seeks candidates who speak additional languages, particularly those fluent in one of BPS' official languages.
  • Preference for core content educators to be certified in their subject area and one or both of the following: Moderate Disabilities, English as a Second Language.
