Additionally, the individual will collaborate closely with the Business Intelligence Director to establish ongoing priorities for the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of insurance principles, including financial P&Ls, expense ratios, rate level indications, loss ratio trends, and marketing funnel metrics, while becoming familiar with internal workflows such as underwriting, sales, and claims processing.
  • Identify innovative reporting solutions, including ad-hoc analyses that enable effective measurement of operational efficiency. Enhance existing reports to improve distribution efficiency, minimize redundancy, and facilitate better presentation.
  • Engage with other analytical teams across the organization to review insights derived from recent analytical initiatives.
  • Utilize available front-end reporting tools, data systems, and information collected from various departments to analyze business challenges and communicate findings to management.
  • Work with extensive databases from the Production Data warehouse. Partner with data teams to utilize tools and techniques developed for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
  • Create automated reporting and analytical tools, which include a) queries that extract and summarize data from our data warehouse and b) procedures that integrate this data into dynamic workbooks for multi-level analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with other departments to lead assigned analytical projects, as well as present findings and recommendations to a diverse range of stakeholders. This encompasses:
    • Acquiring subject-matter expertise to independently drive the analysis
    • Applying appropriate analytical techniques to generate actionable insights
    • Exhibiting effective presentation and communication skills

Qualifications and Education

  • Proven problem-solving experience gained through relevant coursework and professional experience. A BA/BS degree in a quantitative field is required.
  • Several years of experience in Property and Casualty Insurance is essential.
  • Analytical thinker with a strong intellectual curiosity and meticulous attention to detail. Previous experience in Product or Actuarial roles is preferred.
  • Proficient in programming/querying with SQL Server and building reports in Tableau.
  • Skilled in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Three or more years of experience with relational database tools and concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading projects from inception to completion with a high degree of independence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • A collaborative mindset, coupled with the capability to work autonomously and efficiently on a high volume of tasks.
