Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mathematical Statistician to join our team at the Internal Revenue Service. As a key member of our Research, Applied Analytics and Statistics (RAAS) Division, you will be responsible for leading a team of statisticians and analysts in conducting research and developing statistical models to inform business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and assign work to subordinates, setting priorities and schedules for completion of tasks.
  • Evaluate the performance of subordinates and make recommendations for recognition or disciplinary action.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to employees on work and administrative matters.
  • Interview and recommend candidates for positions within the organization.
  • Resolve employee complaints and refer group grievances as necessary.
  • Effect minor disciplinary measures and recommend other actions as needed.
  • Identify developmental and training needs of employees and provide or arrange for necessary development and training.
  • Initiate ways to improve production, work processes, and quality of work.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have a bachelor's degree in mathematics or statistics, or a related field, and at least one year of specialized experience in a leadership or management role. You must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Working Conditions

This is a non-bargaining unit position, and you will be required to work a standard day shift with start and stop times between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Alternative work schedules, staggered work hours, or telework may be available.
