Job Summary

The City of Tuscaloosa, AL is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy City Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and maintenance of our city's infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and water and sewer systems.

As a Deputy City Engineer, you will work closely with our City Engineer to develop and implement plans for the department, including budgeting, resource allocation, and project management. You will also be responsible for supervising a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of projects.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in civil engineering, excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the design, construction, and maintenance of city infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and water and sewer systems

  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in civil engineering, with 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Alabama or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
