Position Overview

This role is situated within the Natural Resources Stewardship and Science Division, focusing on the management and analysis of natural resources.

Job Summary

This is a term position lasting over one year, with an initial commitment of at least 13 months, potentially extendable up to a decade.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Civil Engineer role encompass the following:

  • Engineering Analysis: Conducts comprehensive engineering evaluations of oil and gas facilities, which includes technical planning, data collection and management, modeling, and risk assessment. Engineering recommendations are made based on thorough analyses.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Develops and reviews project protocols, guidelines, and technical documentation related to oil and gas operations. This includes preparing design summaries, operating procedures, and construction plans, as well as presenting findings at technical meetings.
  • Inspections and Assessments: Organizes and executes examinations of oil and gas facilities, documenting conditions and identifying compliance issues. This involves project management planning and collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Provides engineering support for oversight of oil and gas regulations, participating in technical working groups and collaborating with external partners.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Credit will be given for all relevant experience, which must be clearly detailed in your resume.

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet one of the following basic requirements:

  • Education: A degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Combination of Education and Experience: A mix of college-level education and professional experience in engineering.

To qualify at the GS-12 level, candidates must possess specialized experience comparable to the GS-11 level, including:

  • Evaluating oil and gas facility operations.
  • Data collection and analysis from inspection sites.
  • Utilizing GIS or mapping software for data interpretation.

Volunteer Experience: Relevant volunteer work will also be considered in evaluating qualifications.
