Job Title: Controller

Vitus Energy LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, the Controller will be responsible for maintaining accounting, personnel, and administrative books and records in accordance with applicable laws and in a manner that satisfies GAAP and tax reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Payroll Processing: Responsible for all aspects of payroll processing, including the maintenance of employee records, management of the 401(k) Plan, filing and complying with federal and state payroll taxes and reporting, including Form 941, Form 940, and State Unemployment Form.
  • Inventory Control: Responsible for inventory control and tracking, including the recording of all inventory transactions, including transfers and variances, reconciliation of tanker trips and lighterage trips, and filing, payment, and processing of all related tax and government reports applicable to fuel and inventory.
  • Financial Reporting: Responsible for reviewing all bills for Vitus Energy, including the proper classification of divisions, gathering tax documentation, and filing of 1099's.
  • Financial Analysis: Responsible for reviewing all billing of Vitus Energy, providing necessary statements to Marketing Manager for collection efforts, processing of credit cards when customer prefers such service, and help calculate and settle peculiar contract issues such as prepayment discounts.
  • Fixed Asset Management: Responsible for maintaining fixed asset records for Vitus Energy in order to properly track and depreciate said assets.
  • Month-End Closing: Responsible for performing month-end closing procedures, including the amortization of prepaid expenses, reconciliation of cash, reconciling intercompany transactions, and consolidating financial statements.
  • GAAP and Tax Compliance: Responsible for researching and advising on GAAP and tax issues, cash forecasting when balances become low, making deposits of incoming cash, and maintaining and applying for applicable business licenses.
  • Administrative Support: Responsible for maintaining and organizing filing system, communicating with Quickbooks, customers, and vendors when needed, and helping produce a budget for the upcoming year.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, company policy, procedure manuals, and state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of agency personnel or employees of company.
Work Environment:

The work environment is quiet, and the employee is expected to adhere to company policies and to act as a role model in the adherence of agency policies.
