Job Summary:
This role is primarily focused on managing fuel supply for the boiler and overseeing all related equipment and machinery.

Work is conducted under direct supervision, with performance evaluated based on goal achievement and adherence to established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate heavy mobile machinery, such as Cat 980 front-end loaders, to blend and store wood fuel for the boiler.
  • Manage fuel conveyors and receiving hoppers.
  • Oversee scale house operations and truck unloading.
  • Control the fuel reclaimer during pile swaps and monitor its operation.
  • Conduct daily inspections of fuel yard equipment and complete shift logs.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance tasks in the yard.
  • Perform daily quality control checks and monitor pile temperatures.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and respond to abnormal operating conditions safely.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience operating mobile heavy equipment, including loaders and trucks.
  • Familiarity with welding and maintenance practices.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, along with basic mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of plant safety protocols, particularly regarding chemical handling and high-energy systems.
  • Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Willingness to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime as needed.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
This position requires the ability to:
  • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl as necessary.
  • Operate controls and handle tools and equipment effectively.

Employees may be exposed to various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and loud noise levels. Personal protective equipment may be required in certain situations.
