Registered Nurse (RN) - Medicine Specialty
Job Summary:
OU Health University of Oklahoma Medical Center Outpatient Surgery Center seeks a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Medicine Specialty department. As a RN, you will provide high-quality patient care in a hospital setting, working with a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to patients in a hospital setting, under general supervision.
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients, documenting patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments.
- Assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations of patients, and intervene when necessary.
- Administer medication as prescribed, initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver patient care competently, interacting with patients and their families to share care plans while in the hospital and during discharge.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel, delegate tasks to support staff, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Current RN License issued by the State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
- 1 year of experience required.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Some computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program (preferred but not required).
