Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ocean Systems Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. The successful candidate will have a strong background in ocean engineering and a proven track record of leading high-performing teams in the development and integration of maritime systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and integration of ocean systems, including submarine payloads, autonomous vehicles, and acoustic systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members, ensuring the successful delivery of projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Support the development of Navy integrated logistics support products, including technical manuals and training materials.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Ocean Engineering, System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience working on projects involving industrial or military undersea operations, sensors, and systems.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong technical leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and guide team members.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret level security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in a technical or scientific discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience working on projects involving industrial or military undersea operations, sensors, and systems.
  • Experience as a principal investigator for science and technology efforts.
  • Experience working in a highly technical research environment.
