Job Title: Project Surveyor

Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Project Surveyor to join our team in Austin, TX. As a Project Surveyor, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily activities of at least one field crew and/or survey technician.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute surveying projects through administration, technical, and management techniques to ensure successful completion, on time, and within allocated budget.
  • Oversee and coordinate daily activities of at least one field crew and/or survey technician.
  • Perform moderately complex survey work and assist with highly complex land surveys, including boundary surveys, horizontal and vertical control surveys, photogrammetric surveys, and construction staking.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of surveying equipment, instruments, and software, including robotic total stations, global positioning systems, data collection devices, and point processing software.
  • Participate in the post-processing of data collected for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
  • Interpret and establish compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Assist survey crew and provide information in compliance with department rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.
  • Three or more (3+) years of relevant industry-related experience or demonstrated exemplary success and leadership in surveying program of study at collegiate level.
  • Professional Land Surveying registration.
  • Knowledge of basic principles and practices of land surveying theory and applications; departmental surveying policies, practices, and techniques; regulations and requirements governing land surveying; principles of land surveys; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, policies, codes, and regulations related to area of assignment; current technology and trends in the profession.
  • Proficient in computer and software applications related to assignments, including AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must hold a valid state driver's license and successfully pass a motor vehicle check.
Working Environment:

Partially indoor professional office environment which may include exposure to bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic. Partially outdoor work environment which may include exposure to outside weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.

Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
