Del Mar Barback Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic barback to join our team at Del Mar, a premier fine dining restaurant. As a barback, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our bar area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily bar inspections to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Set up the bar according to layout standards and prepare all necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Wash and polish glassware, silverware, plates, and bar tools to ensure they are in excellent condition.
  • Prepare juices, garnishes, and syrups needed for service and maintain par-levels throughout the shift.
  • Stock refrigeration units with beer, wine, juice, and water products and maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Maintain bar cleanliness and organization while on duty and label perishables according to DOH and company guidelines.
  • Serve, describe, and clear foods and beverages at the bar, as needed.
  • Replace used dishes and silverware and restock condiments as needed.
  • Assist in counting china, glass, silver, and linen and conduct all required opening, side-work, hand-over, and closing duties.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year barback experience in an upscale casual or fine dining restaurant, with high-volume experience a plus.
  • Excellent guest service skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow.
  • Professional appearance and grooming standards appropriate for a premier fine dining restaurant.
  • Previous experience with Italian or Spanish restaurants a plus.
