Job Summary

The Lead Worker-Janitor position at Didlake is a vital role that requires strong leadership and communication skills. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting the Janitorial Supervisor in the overall direction, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of cleaning crews in the maintenance of the contract.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevator banks, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
  • Clean floors using brooms, mops, and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
  • Polish metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
  • Wash windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Empty wastebaskets.
  • Replenish bathroom supplies and floor supplies.
  • Set an example through dependability, hard work, strong business ethics, and personal appearance.
  • Assign tasks and issue supplies and equipment to employees and inspect completed work for conformance to standards.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment from Supervisor, APM, or PM.
  • Train employees on how to do assigned work and in using equipment and supplies appropriately.
  • Address complaints and resolve problems of employees and customers; refer to supervisor as deemed necessary.
  • May fill in for general cleaning staff as needed.
  • Operate power equipment such as two-stage snow blowers.
  • When specified in the contract, during inclement weather, provide proper upkeep by removing snow from walkways, building entrances, and dock ramps, and spreading snow/ice melting chemicals.
  • Complete and maintain all Didlake required training.
  • Responsible for appropriate conduct and decorum.
  • Responsible for working with a positive team spirit and producing quality work.
  • Responsible for following safety standards and guidelines in the proper use of equipment and other activities.

Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED or any combination of experience/education to equal graduation from the 12th grade.
  • One (1) year recent, relevant experience in commercial custodial or maintenance services.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Possess the ability to pass a background check.
  • Some knowledge of general cleaning products and equipment required.
  • Must possess strong verbal and good written communication skills including the ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to apply common sense and good judgment in fulfilling responsibilities.
  • Ability to remind and retrain staff of standard operating procedures and safe operation of equipment.
  • Ability to interact effectively and supportively with people with disabilities.
  • Some knowledge of general cleaning products and equipment.
  • Must possess and demonstrate high initiative, adaptability, flexibility, and convey a positive team member attitude.
