Clinical Laboratory Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Dallas County. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, test, and report the results of patient specimens while maintaining safety procedures, quality control, proficiency testing, and maintenance of laboratory equipment to maintain certification of the laboratory according to CLIA guidelines.
- Perform testing and identification procedures on serology and microbiology specimens submitted to the laboratory.
- Prepare media, reagents, stains, etc. and document results.
- Perform quality control procedures to ensure certification of the laboratory.
- Ensure safety practices and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Participate in proficiency testing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education and experience equivalent to an Associate degree from an accredited college or university in a Biological Science, or in a job-related field of study.
- One (1) year of work-related experience.
- Knowledge of standard software applications.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the general public.
- Must be able to distinguish colors.
- Ability to lift, push, and carry up to 25 lbs., unassisted.
