Description

Main Objective:

The primary responsibility is to execute all surface preparation and coating tasks in accordance with contract specifications and quality assurance protocols, adhering to established ISO-QA/QC program standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely and effectively operate painting and blasting machinery, including pressure paint guns and industrial air compressors.
  • Utilize power tools for cleaning and brush painting tasks.
  • Maintain and clean all associated painting and blasting tools, including safety gear.
  • Apply primer and paint coatings as necessary, ensuring quality while minimizing waste.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment that regulates blasting pressures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assess paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality through visual inspections or viscometers.
  • Accurately measure and prepare chemicals and coatings prior to application.
  • Dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned, which may include rigging tasks.
  • Directly apply paint or primer to surfaces using appropriate equipment.
  • Adhere to company specifications and operational procedures.
  • Utilize a respirator hood and spray gun for painting tasks.
  • Employ a blast hose for surface preparation.
  • Prepare surfaces by blasting beams, pipes, and valves.
  • Apply primer, intermediate, and final coats as required.
  • Wear protective gear during blasting and painting operations.
  • Follow safety guidelines as outlined in MSDS documentation.
  • Ensure protection against fumes and product discoloration.

Physical Requirements:
  • Standing and walking are essential job functions.
  • Twisting, bending, and stooping are required physical activities.

Job Requirements:

  • Possession of a TWIC card is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
Tools and Equipment:

Familiarity with pressure paint guns, sandblasting hoses, wet mill paint gauges, paint pots, air compressors, and safety equipment is essential.

Work Environment:

Most work is conducted outdoors, with exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions. Workers may encounter dust, mud, and fumes from paint products.

Gulf Island does not sponsor work visa applications and requires candidates to be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
