Job Summary

The Area Director, Operations Support will provide leadership and oversight to the Area's operational plan, goals, and major initiatives. This role will work closely with field operations to ensure the durability of standards and processes, and provide expertise in functional areas such as fleet and equipment maintenance, environmental compliance, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise, analysis, input, information, and actions to improve operations performance, focusing on operations activities and processes for collection and post-collection sites, as well as functional areas such as fleet maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Actively champion and support all Republic programs and have oversight of the Area Safety Director, Area Operations Manager, Area Driver Trainer, Area Post Collections Manager, Area Recycling Manager, and Area Engineering & Environmental Manager to support Company safety initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations to improve the performance of Supervisors, Operations Managers, and General Managers in setting priorities and goals to optimize operations.
  • Identify favorable and unfavorable trends and opportunities to reduce operating costs across the Area.
  • Direct and coordinate operations programs/plans, including but not limited to Blue Crew, emergency response, and disaster recovery efforts, and acquisition and contract start-up(s).
  • Assist in the creation, development, and implementation of the Company operations strategy and other Company-wide initiatives.
  • Collaborate on, aid establishment of, and support compliance with Company standards and best practice operating procedures and processes; drive the One Republic Way.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations and local site leadership to identify issues, lead root cause analyses, and develop remedial action plans. Provide targeted expertise to lead on-site activities to address cultural, process, or operational challenges.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the waste industry or a related industry with significant exposure to collection/hauling operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the oversight of operations and P&L responsibility.
