Job Summary

Kforce is seeking a skilled Windows/ISS Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability and performance of our systems, monitoring application pools, database instances, and system logs, and responding to critical events in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Monitoring and Maintenance: Proactively ensure system stability and performance by monitoring application pools, database instances, database jobs, system and application logs, and system performance metrics.
  • Support and Deployment: Support team members by deploying code and database changes to test and production environments and assist in troubleshooting.
  • Disaster Recovery Planning: Design, document, and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), update PowerShell STIG check scripts whenever STIGs change, and monitor applicable IAVMs and coordinate patching of IIS and SQL servers.
  • High-Availability Solutions: Create high-availability and load balancing solutions for mission-critical applications.
  • Documentation and Automation: Develop and maintain documentation to include security checklists and deployment processes, and automate repetitive tasks with PowerShell/Batch scripts.
  • Backup and Maintenance: Perform routine backups of code, logs, and data repositories, perform routine maintenance on databases, and automate backup procedures.
  • Server Certificates and Third-Party Services: Renew and maintain server certificates and other third-party services.
  • Functional Testing and Troubleshooting: Support functional testing of.NET and SharePoint web sites and provide detailed feedback to developers, and help monitor trouble tickets to ensure issues are being received and completed in a timely manner meeting Service Level Targets.
  • Security Inspections and On-Call Rotation: Serve as the primary POC for security inspections and serve in the team on-call rotation.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School/GED and 2+ years of experience with Windows Server Operating Systems, or similar system environments.
  • Certifications: CompTIA Security+ CE certification required at start date.
  • Technical Skills: 2+ years of experience with Microsoft IIS or similar web system environments, experience in web infrastructure design and operations including TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP, load balancing, clustering, firewall rules, failover, monitoring, diagnostics, and performance tuning, etc.
  • Soft Skills: Possess high aptitude for problem solving and troubleshooting, attention to detail, excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and planning skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Teamwork and Customer Service: Must be a strong team player but also able to work independently with little supervision, maintain a professional demeanor with our military, civilian, and contractor customers, and possess or ability to acquire one position-related technical certification within 180 days of hire.
