Job Title: Substance Abuse Therapist

The Salvation Army Great Lakes Division is seeking a skilled Substance Abuse Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our treatment team, you will play a vital role in helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve long-term recovery.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Conduct individual, group, and educational counseling sessions to support clients in their recovery journey.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed case records in accordance with our organization's standards.
  • Collaborate with referral sources, such as gatekeepers and parole/probation agents, to ensure seamless treatment and aftercare planning.
  • Develop and implement effective discharge plans, including aftercare referrals and letters to referring agencies.
  • Participate in regular clinical staff meetings and team conferences to discuss program policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices through ongoing education and training.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two years of experience working with substance abuse populations.
  • Master's degree in Behavioral Science (Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology).
  • Approved MCBAP certification (CADC, CAADC, etc.) or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • State of Michigan license (LLMSW, LMSW, LPC, LLPC).
