Position Overview:
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring parts and supplies essential for daily trucking maintenance and operations.

This role also involves organizing and managing inventory, including audits, warranties, and cores, while translating daily business activities into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Additional responsibilities and special projects may be assigned as necessary.


This is a full-time role that may require working beyond 40 hours a week to meet operational demands, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement of parts, supplies, and small tools for operational and maintenance departments, which may involve pickup and delivery.
  • Vendor Communication:
o Establishing accounts.

o Pricing, quoting, warranty, and delivery schedules or pickup details for orders.

  • Utilizing the CMMS:
o Issuing and receiving purchase orders (POs) and adding parts to inventory.

o Creating work orders, charging out parts, managing sublets, and invoicing work orders for units.

o Conducting inventory audits.

o Managing parts replacement warranties and chassis warranties.

o Returning used cores for credit.

  • Organizing and managing the parts room, shelves, and inventory.
  • Transferring parts and supplies between locations as required.
  • Providing support for other locations as needed, such as during vacations or time off.
Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Prior industry experience.
  • Computer proficiency and knowledge of CMMS.
  • Familiarity with vehicle parts.
  • Effective and professional communication skills with all employees, contractors, and vendors.
