About Our Team
Our department comprises a multidisciplinary group of specialists in three primary areas: Low Temperature Plasma Physics, Laser and Optical Diagnostics and Analysis, and Thermal Characterization of Materials. We collaborate with various groups within Sandia and external entities to advance the science that underpins engineering solutions.
The Low Temperature Plasma Physics focus encompasses ongoing research in plasma-driven chemistry, plasma-surface interactions, and charged particle transport, among other topics. Our team includes both experimental and computational experts who work together to foster new understanding.
We employ a range of diagnostic techniques to investigate these systems and are actively involved in the development or application of advanced laser diagnostics and other spectroscopic methods.
The Laser and Optical Diagnostics and Analysis thrust engages in innovative research and application development utilizing diverse techniques and instrumentation.
The Thermal Characterization thrust investigates the fundamental thermal properties and performance of a wide variety of materials under various conditions, employing state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and modeling techniques.
Security Clearance
Sandia is mandated by the DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review, which includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
