About the Role:The Clinical Research Nurse performs an essential role supporting the principal investigator in the conduct of clinical trials to ensure compliance with all aspects of the protocol and accuracy of data collection.
The primary responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Nursing assessments, medication administration, and performs nursing interventions
- Conducts study visits, completes documentation in the electronic health record and study Case Report Forms (CRFs)
- Ensures compliance with all Children's Health policies, and all applicable state and federal regulations and standards from accrediting bodies, and IRB requirements
- Performs regulatory start up and maintenance activities
* Coordinate, evaluate and follow patient participation in clinical trials
* Perform protocol-specific clinical tasks including patient assessment, medication administration, screening, ordering tests, collecting specimens, and monitoring responses
* Provides initial and ongoing education to patients/family and clinical staff on protocol requirements
* Serves as a patient advocate to ensure understanding and protect patients wellbeing, health and safety
* Monitors/assesses patient for adverse events and reports to principal investigator, sponsor, and regulatory authorities (e.g., IRB, FDA, etc.)
* Ensures Patient Health Information (PHI) is always protected and secured
* Collaborates with physicians, families and other healthcare professionals to ensure the protocol is executed as specified
* Performs and ensures completeness of all data collection/documentation
* Identifies concerns and communicates to principal investigator and supervisor and escalates as necessary
* Prepares and maintains regulatory documentation and study files
* Performs quality assurance and audits
* Performs research billing review
Requirements:* At least 1 year Recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital, clinic or similar health care setting required
* At least 1 year clinical trials experience preferred
* Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience BS, BSN required
* Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas Req
* Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Req
* Effective April 20, 2020, new employees must obtain PACES certification within 6 months of hire and existing employees must obtain PACES certification upon expiration of their PEARS certification (no later than April 20, Req
