About the Organization


The Merced County Office of Education plays a pivotal role in supporting the 20 school districts within Merced County by overseeing curriculum and instructional practices, alternative education programs, business services, early childhood education, technology integration, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing.

Guided by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education, MCOE serves as a crucial link in fostering partnerships among local schools, government entities, and community organizations.

In addition to its support functions, MCOE is responsible for the financial oversight of each district, managing student expulsion hearings, interdistrict transfer appeals, and operating Green Meadows Outdoor School.


Position Overview


Under the supervision of the Teacher at Valley Community School, with indirect oversight from the Principal and Vice-Principal, this role involves performing a variety of routine tasks aimed at assisting and supervising students attending Valley Community School and those placed in Juvenile Hall.

This position is part of the classified bargaining unit and adheres to the terms set forth in the union agreement regarding membership, fee payment, or charitable donations.

  • Upon hire, candidates must present TB clearance, high school diploma, official transcripts, DMV Driving Record (H 6) printout, CA driver license, and proof of auto insurance liability (if required by position).
Applicants who meet both educational and experiential criteria may be invited for proficiency testing, unless already compliant.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION/

TRAINING:
High school diploma or recognized equivalent. (College coursework in general education is preferred).

EXPERIENCE:
More than one year of experience in similar roles involving students and/or minors. (Experience with ex-offenders, inmates, or high-risk students in an educational context is preferred).

CREDENTIALS AND/

OR SKILLS:
New hires must comply with NCLB requirements. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred. Ability to read basic instructional materials and correct students' grammatical errors; understanding of simple mathematics, including fractions. Capability to effectively engage with troubled and/or incarcerated youth. Proof of CA driver's license and minimum liability insurance as mandated by law. DMV H-6 printout is required.

Selection Process:
Applications will be evaluated for compliance with minimum qualifications. A maximum of eight candidates will be invited for a panel interview. All candidates will be notified via email after the final selection process.
