Position Summary:

The Prep Cook is accountable for the meticulous preparation of ingredients and workstations utilized in the culinary process, while also ensuring the kitchen environment is maintained in a clean and sanitized condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and portion meats, poultry, and seafood for cooking.
  • Wash, peel, and chop a variety of foods, including fruits and vegetables, for cooking or serving.
  • Measure, portion, and package food items.
  • Follow the preparation list provided by the Chef.
  • Rotate food items and label them with the appropriate time and date in storage.
  • Sanitize food preparation tools, work surfaces, and kitchen areas.
  • Conduct general cleaning tasks within the kitchen.
  • Restock kitchen supplies as necessary.
  • Store food in designated containers to prevent spoilage.
  • Organize storage areas and refrigerators.
  • Transport food supplies, equipment, and utensils between storage and work areas.
  • Dispose of waste and clean kitchen waste containers.
  • Notify supervisors of equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels, and assist in ordering supplies.
  • Support other kitchen staff with various tasks and provide necessary items.
  • Utilize manual or electric tools for cleaning, peeling, slicing, and trimming food items.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen floor through sweeping and mopping.
  • Hold a valid Food Handler's Certification.
  • Exhibit a positive and professional demeanor towards colleagues and customers.
