Position: Maintenance Assistant
Shift: 7:00am – 3:00pm
Job Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Role Summary:
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for executing general maintenance and repair tasks for designated equipment and facilities. This includes plumbing, electrical work, basic carpentry, HVAC systems, hydraulics, and other essential building systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections to identify equipment or machinery requiring repairs.
  • Assist in diagnosing issues to determine necessary corrective actions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment, including cleaning filters and lubricating components.
  • Carry out general repairs that do not necessitate specialized skills, such as drywall repair, painting, and fixing doors.
  • Maintain cleanliness and assist in the upkeep of facilities to ensure safe and well-maintained working conditions.
  • Execute all assigned tasks according to established practices and standards, ensuring safety and minimal supervision.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Highly organized with the capability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with general maintenance procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and confidently.
  • Basic skills in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions for various tasks.
  • Reliable attendance with the flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Proven experience in general maintenance is essential, along with a solid understanding of carpentry and repair work.

Physical Requirements:
The role requires the ability to stand, push, pull, reach overhead, bend, twist, crouch, and lift throughout the shift. Candidates must be able to lift 15-35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally, as well as navigate confined spaces near loud machinery. The ability to stand or sit for extended periods and manipulate tools and parts is necessary.

Work Environment:
Work will be performed on-site in a manufacturing setting with moderate to loud noise levels. Employees may encounter varying allergens and environmental factors, such as heat and cold, depending on the season. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times to mitigate potential risks.
