Job Purpose and Focus:
This foundational role is recognized as a pivotal step in educational administration. The ideal candidate will support building-level operations related to management and oversight as directed by the principal. This role will also spearhead the leadership in the formulation, organization, execution, coordination, and assessment of athletic programs. The primary objective of this position is to foster and promote positive student development and behavior while actively involving parents and guardians in their children's educational success.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Master's degree in educational administration is preferred.
  • Administrator certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience in education.
  • Experience in supervising athletics at the secondary level is required.
  • Commitment to meet state continuing education standards.
  • Proven leadership experience is essential.
  • Coaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with a diverse student and parent community.
  • Understanding of curriculum principles, teaching methods, and learning assessment.
  • Ability to collaborate with the principal on budget and fiscal recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of interscholastic athletic organization, scheduling, and competition.
  • Capability to promote athletics within the district and the community.
  • Exemplary patience, reliability, problem-solving skills, and diplomacy.

Essential Functions and Representative Duties:
  • Participate as a member of the district's administrative team.
  • Assist the principal in coordinating administrative and supervisory functions of the building.
  • Act as the chief building administrator in the principal's absence.
  • Manage student supervision issues and uphold school behavioral standards.
  • Engage staff and parents in establishing student behavioral expectations.
  • Develop and manage student attendance policies.
  • Oversee the athletic budget; authorize all athletic expenditures, adhering to district procedures.
  • Administer all relevant athletic association rules and regulations.
  • Attend and supervise district athletic events or designate supervision.
  • Represent the district at league meetings and events.
  • Plan, develop, and implement individual student behavioral plans.
  • Serve as a resource for staff in classroom management strategies.
  • Assist in creating programs that promote positive student behavior and intervention strategies.
  • Implement and enforce local eligibility policies.
  • Collaborate with coaches and principals regarding athletic discipline issues.
  • Schedule all athletic events and complete seasonal schedules for each sport, coordinating with maintenance and custodial staff for facility setup.
  • Work with transportation to arrange travel for athletic teams as needed.
  • Monitor facilities and recommend maintenance and upgrades.
  • Coordinate the use of athletic facilities by external groups with the principal or community education supervisor.
  • Ensure annual equipment and uniform inventories are conducted by head coaches and assist in updating equipment/uniforms.
  • Act as a liaison for the athletic program with local media and between coaches and booster clubs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance student retention.
  • Create a plan for parent involvement with specific goals to engage parents and inspire support for their children and the school.
  • Assist in evaluations of certified and non-certified staff as well as annual coaching assessments.
  • Collaborate with administration to maintain a comprehensive student activities program emphasizing public relations, sportsmanship, coaching performance, and student recognition.
  • Take responsibility for professional growth through participation in professional organizations and attendance at relevant meetings and courses.
  • Assist in staff development programs.
  • Support the testing program.
  • Assist in daily building operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Must be able to operate effectively in various noise levels and activity settings. Flexibility and patience are essential. Self-motivation and the ability to complete assignments without direct supervision are required. Must align efforts with district goals.

Evaluation/Performance Measurements:
Job performance will be evaluated according to district policy and collective bargaining agreements. Evaluation criteria include alignment with the district's vision, contributions to continuous improvement, effective communication of the district's vision, commitment to high standards for all students, understanding of curriculum design, and effective management of resources.
