Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Hourly Lab Specialist to join our team in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for performing behavioral experiments in laboratory rodents, preparing and managing test solutions using sterile techniques, and handling rodents, giving injections, and observing behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform behavioral experiments in laboratory rodents
  • Prepare and manage test solutions using sterile techniques
  • Handle rodents, give injections, and observe behavior
  • Operate experimental equipment, record data, and complete spreadsheets in Excel

Requirements:

  • Dependability and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on weekends and some weekdays with flexibility
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in biology, chemistry, psychology, or related discipline
  • Current college student majoring in one of these disciplines
