Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Director of Risk Management and Modeling at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka. This is a key leadership role that will play a critical part in shaping our risk management and modeling strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for our risk management and modeling programs, working closely with our Chief Risk Officer to design, implement, and maintain a robust risk management framework.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including business partners and external parties, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Lead the development and implementation of risk management policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the validation of model results and ensure that relationships between models and data/assumptions are properly identified and managed.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to identify, assess, and mitigate material risks, including those related to model risk, operational risk, and credit risk.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in risk management and modeling, staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a quantified field, such as economics, engineering, finance, mathematics, statistics, or risk management.
  • At least 8 years of experience in risk management and modeling, preferably in the financial services industry or with a large public accounting/consulting firm.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with fixed-income instruments, including residential mortgage products, debt instruments, interest rate derivatives, pricing theories, and modeling techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
  • Strong knowledge of financial institution balance sheet fundamentals and accounting concepts, as well as interest rate risk measurement/management techniques and practices.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver presentations and explain complex concepts to non-experts.
