GTN Technical Staffing is seeking a highly skilled Haas Lathe Mill CNC Programmer to join our team. As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for managing the CNC program creation process for a machine shop with expanding CNC Swiss lathes, CNC Turnmill lathes, CNC 3-axis lathes, CNC 2-axis lathes, and CNC 3-axis mills.
Key Responsibilities:- Interpreting Drawings and Specifications: Interprets drawings, creates new solid models (where necessary), and generates CNC programs for Swiss lathes and/or multiaxis TurnMill machines, CNC 3-axis lathes, CNC 2-axis lathes, and CNC 3-axis mills using CAD/CAM systems.
- Programming and Setup: Sets up to produce First Piece on the Swiss TurnMill machines, CNC 3-axis lathes, CNC 2-axis lathes, and CNC 3-axis mills, and runs jobs when required.
- Tooling and Fixtures: Creates setup sheets (tool list, xyz home positions) and communicates with setup machinists of the tooling requirements, fixtures, etc.
- Quality Control: Monitors and verifies the accuracy of each job's initial setup and final outcome.
- Process Improvement: Revises, updates, and maintains all programs and documents based on engineering changes or process improvement projects.
- Collaboration: Works with machine shop supervisor/manager on process improvements and cycle time reductions, including testing of new cutting tools and new processes.
- Communication: Communicates with setup machinists and/or Machine Shop Supervisor/Manager regarding tooling/fixtures/material requirements for upcoming and/or existing jobs on the floor.
- Training and Support: Provides shop floor assistance with inspection methods, training on machines, machine alarms, and program issues.
- Quality Assurance: Communicates with the Quality Engineer to develop inspection methods, First Piece Inspections (FPI's), and In-process inspection during production run.
- ITAR Compliance: Applicant must be ITAR compliant.
- Experience: 5 years of experience programming Swiss CNC Machines and/or TurnMill lathes (Tsugami Star and doublespindle doubleturret CNC machines) preferred and CNC 3-axis lathes, CNC 2-axis lathes, and CNC 3-axis mills.
- Machining Fundamentals: Deep understanding of machining fundamentals or formula correlation of machining parameters (i.e. SFM, RPM, IPR, IPT, etc.) on cutting tool workpiece materials, etc.
- Machine Controls: Knowledge of newer Fanuc controls (18i, 31i) including Tsugami machines (S-series, B0-series), multiaxis TurnMill centers, and ability to learn and adapt to ever-changing technology.
- Measuring Equipment: Knowledge of measuring equipment and the application of such instruments including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, comparators.
- Drawings and Specifications: Deep understanding of mechanical drawings and specifications and ability to interpret geometric tolerances and dimensions callouts on drawings.
- Programming Segments: Detailed knowledge of programming segments and corresponding operations.
- Tooling and Cutting Tools: Working knowledge of various tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, and inserts used on various machines.
- Quality System: Knowledge and understanding of AS9100 quality system.
- Software Skills: Proficient level of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, etc.) and familiar or working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
