Main Responsibilities

The Mainframe Production Control and Scheduling Specialist will be responsible for monitoring and controlling mainframe production environments, ensuring smooth operation and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring and Controlling Mainframe Production Environments: Monitor mainframe console for outstanding messages, SMF dumps, tape-related issues, buffer shortages, and spool maintenance.
  • Batch Operations: Monitor production batch jobs through scheduling tools, coordinate and manage application restarts, debug JCL errors, and initiate and coordinate with production scheduling teams.
  • Scheduling: Add, delete, and update jobs using scheduling tools, document batch requirements, provide primary support for scheduling activities, and maintain and review batch job schedules.
  • System Administration: Perform IPL, shutdown, and startup of LPARs, monitor CPU usage, and start and stop databases.
  • Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve issues related to mainframe console, batch operations, and scheduling.
Requirements:
  • Technical Skills: Mainframe Control-M, JES commands, RMF, IMS, CICS, and printer management.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of business processes and ability to communicate with stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
