Key Responsibilities

As a Mainframe zOS System Administrator, you will be responsible for managing the UNIX Systems Services (USS) environment on an IBM zOS mainframe platform. This includes creating, populating, securing, and troubleshooting USS file systems and mount points.

You will also be responsible for creating and updating zOS parameters using PARMLIB, as well as planning, creating, and updating accurate documentation for IBM zOS mainframe platform software and hardware installation and upgrades.

Additionally, you will use IBM zOS mainframe communications products, including Virtual Telecommunications Access Method (VTAM), Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

You will create, update, and debug Job Entry Subsystem (JES2) parameters and statements, and have a deep understanding of zOS services structure, JES concepts, parallel sysplex, and catalog management.

Expertise in tuning and debugging performance problems for zOS systems, including application workloads, is also required.

You will perform problem diagnostics and resolution, monitor system performance, and tune when required.

Capable of zOS Performance Analysis using various tools such as IBM's RMF, SMF, and subsystem analysis tools.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with zOS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, IOCP/HCD, and Parallel Sysplex
  • Strong understanding of zOS services structure, JES concepts, parallel sysplex, and catalog management
  • Expertise in tuning and debugging performance problems for zOS systems
  • Ability to create, update, and debug zOS parameters using PARMLIB
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
