The Clinical Nutrition Specialist plays a vital role within our interdisciplinary team, utilizing nutritional education to enhance the quality of life for our patients. This role involves assessing, monitoring, and educating patients and their families about the significance of diet and nutrition in managing chronic kidney disease.

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, with shifts commencing at 7:00 AM, and weekends off.

Compensation: Salary range from $65,000 to $73,000 annually, contingent upon renal experience; prior experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

What You Will Do:

  • Assist patients in making dietary and nutritional choices that enhance their quality of life.
  • Conduct thorough nutrition assessments for all new and at-risk patients.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and patients to create and implement tailored care plans based on nutritional assessments; review monthly and document progress towards established goals.
  • Identify specific interventions required to meet nutritional needs based on evidence-based guidelines, best practices, and current research.
  • Educate patients and their families/caregivers about renal diets and fluid management.
  • Monitor monthly lab results and weight changes, providing recommendations to achieve established goals.
  • Employ a patient-centered care approach, respecting and responding to individual and cultural preferences while promoting engagement.
  • Participate in the Quality Assessment Performance Improvement process, documenting and attending meetings as per clinic policy.
  • Develop and compile nutrition materials to encourage adherence to renal diet guidelines.
  • Communicate nutrition-related concerns with the care team, including attending physicians.
  • Share advancements in kidney disease and nutrition with the care team as necessary.

Qualifications

Successful Candidates Will Have:

  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

Education and Training:

  • Must be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • A minimum of one year of professional experience in clinical nutrition as a registered dietitian (post-registration exam) is required.
  • Previous experience in renal care is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Job shadowing opportunities are available.
