Special Education Teacher Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team in a Lowell school district. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting students with disabilities and providing inclusive education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other school staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Create and implement personalized education plans for students with disabilities to ensure they receive tailored support and accommodations.
  • Teach Core Academic Subjects: Teach core subjects such as math, reading, and writing using specialized instruction techniques to support students' academic growth.
  • Use Assistive Technology and Accommodations: Utilize assistive technology, accommodations, and modifications to support students' access to the curriculum and promote inclusive learning.
  • Collaborate with School Staff: Work collaboratively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to support students' academic and social-emotional needs.
  • Conduct Ongoing Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and monitor student progress to inform instruction and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Maintain Accurate Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress and behavior to ensure effective support and communication with parents and school staff.
Requirements:
  • Education and Certification: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field, and Arizona teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Experience and Skills: Previous experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting, strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational and Time-Management Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to Work Collaboratively: Ability to work collaboratively with other school staff, including general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers, to support students' academic and social-emotional needs.

This is a full-time position with a competitive hourly rate and benefits package. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, with full-time hours. To apply, please submit a resume.
