Job Summary

The Deli Hot Bar Cook position is a part-time or full-time, hourly role that requires a high level of customer service and food preparation skills. As a member of our deli team, you will have the opportunity to improve the dining experience of our guests by providing a wide variety of delicious meal options.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Guest Service: Assist guests with finding items, answer questions, and provide deli recommendations to ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Food Preparation: Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Hot Bar Management: Oversee the hot bar, maintaining high-quality conditions, and ensuring that food temperatures are within safe limits.
  • Quality Control: Collect food temperatures, maintain hot food logs, and ensure that shrinking of items follows proper protocol.
  • Visual Merchandising: Garnish the hot bar to attract guests to our deli selection and create an appealing display.
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare meals for the hot bar based on the deli production schedule.
  • Inventory Management: Organize, stock, clean, and label the hot bar efficiently to maintain a well-stocked and organized display.
  • Attendance and Punctuality: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences.
Qualifications
  • Customer Service Skills: Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
  • Communication Skills: Good oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with guests and team members.
  • Safety Knowledge: Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies.
  • Food Knowledge: Knowledge of perishable food and proper handling procedures.
  • Equipment Operation: Requires proper training and knowledge of equipment such as slicers, dishwashers, balers, ovens, trash compactors, fryers, hot bars, soup holders, stovetops, cook and hold units, blasters, and chillers.
  • Multitasking: Ability to work at a fast pace and multitask to meet the demands of a busy deli environment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Physical Ability: Ability to work at a fast pace in changing temperatures (coolers, kitchens, freezers, sales floor) and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing and Bending: Bending, kneeling, and standing in place for long periods of time.
Work Schedule
  • Availability: The Deli Hot Bar position is a part-time or full-time, hourly role with a schedule that may include weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
