Job Description

Cubic Defense is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Deputy Program Manager (DPM) to support the development and execution of cutting-edge Army Training Systems within our Research and Development (R&D) division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Program Manager in the overall management and execution of Army training systems R&D projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and customer requirements.
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and within-scope delivery of training system solutions.
  • Coordinate with engineering, logistics, and support teams to ensure technical feasibility and integration of new technologies into existing training systems.
  • Conduct risk management assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential project challenges.
  • Facilitate communication between internal teams, external partners, and key stakeholders to ensure project alignment and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Prepare and present project status reports, briefings, and updates to senior management and military stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and standards, including DoD acquisition processes and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Support proposal development and contract negotiations for new and ongoing projects.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in program or project management, with at least 5 years in a defense-related field, ideally focusing on military training systems.
  • Proven experience managing complex R&D projects with a strong understanding of the Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Army training systems, simulation technologies, and current military training methodologies.
  • Demonstrated financial management skills including development and control of program budgets, schedules, Estimate at Complete (EAC), and the ability to recognize and capture program changes.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to brief senior leaders and stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficiency in project management software tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, JIRA, Microsoft Office suite).
  • Strong understanding of the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) is preferred.
  • Primavera P6 experience is preferred.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
  • Active Secret clearance or above is preferred.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10%.
