About the Role

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Installer Helper to join our team at NRG Energy. As a key member of our Residential New Construction or Retail Teams, you will provide assistance in installing heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment, ensuring compliance with company requirements and manufacturer specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment, as well as other products, under the supervision of a senior technician.
  • Test systems to ensure proper functioning and identify any issues that require repair.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and efficiently, adhering to company standards.
  • Perform start-up on air conditioning systems as needed and fabricate and install various ducts and duct fittings.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with experience in the HVAC trade potentially substituting for education.
  • Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn the HVAC trade.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic computing skills and the ability to use a computer, laptop, or tablet.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to work overtime with little notice and occasional weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • HVAC trade school certification.
  • Prior experience in HVAC installation.
  • EPA Certification.
Working Conditions
  • Work will primarily take place at occupied residential homes or construction sites, with minimal time spent in an office environment.
  • Regular travel to and from work locations by vehicle.
  • Exposure to construction environments involving equipment, elevated work areas, confined spaces, noise, dust, hazardous materials, and odors.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to drive and operate a motorized passenger vehicle or forklift.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Frequent tasks requiring climbing, bending at the waist, crawling, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work on platforms/scaffolding.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
