Duke University Hospital, located in Durham, North Carolina, is recognized as one of the leading hospitals in the United States and the top hospital in North Carolina. It is the largest facility within the Duke Health system, featuring 1048 patient beds and 65 operating rooms, alongside comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services, including a regional emergency/trauma center.
Working Hours:
- 7 ON / 7 OFF
- Evening shift
Position Overview: This role within the Clinical and Patient Care Services Division involves delivering clinical pharmacy services, including order verification and clinical monitoring. Key responsibilities include:
- Exhibiting exceptional skills as a clinical pharmacy practitioner and demonstrating the significance of pharmacy services.
- Providing clinical pharmacy services primarily to General Medicine departments and associated patient demographics.
- Educating medical, nursing, and pharmacy personnel on the management and monitoring of therapies pertinent to patient care.
- Acting as a resource for the Department of Pharmacy in specialized areas.
- Engaging in departmental and hospital committees related to practice areas.
- Contributing to the education of students and residents.
- Delivering educational lectures and participating in research initiatives.
- Collaborating with colleagues to meet division and departmental objectives.
- Taking ownership of personal and professional development.
- Maintaining knowledge of all departmental programs and functioning as an integral member of the pharmacy team.
- Assuming additional responsibilities as directed by management.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or BS Pharmacy Degree.
Experience:
- For BS Pharmacy degree holders, two years of pharmacy practice experience or relevant board certification, or completion of an accredited residency program is required.
- No experience is required for Doctor of Pharmacy degree holders.
- Preferred: 2+ years of practice experience, PGY1 or Pharmacy Practice Residency, and PGY2 Residency training or experience in Internal Medicine.
Licensure:
- Must be a licensed pharmacist or eligible to practice pharmacy in North Carolina.
